Understand the behaviors behind the work.

How people ask questions, share information, and respond to uncertainty affects the way a team approaches innovation.

Innovation Insight Profiles provide a structured starting point for examining those behaviors and deciding what to practice next.

The profiles examine eighteen characteristics associated with the Six Keys: safety, trust, responsible risk taking, courage, questions, and listening.

Individual profile

A seventy-eight-question questionnaire takes approximately fifteen to eighteen minutes.

You receive a personal report and a facilitated conversation about what the results may mean in your work. Together, we identify a small number of behaviors to examine and practice.

Team and organizational profile

People answer individually. The team leader receives combined results, rather than individual answers.

The report helps the group discuss what its working environment makes easier or harder, and where a change in practice may help.

How you use the results

Consider a profile when a team wants to examine how it works together, establish a starting point for behavioral practice, or reflect on changes over time. It is most useful alongside examples from actual work. A score can prompt a question, and the discussion helps establish whether that question matters in this team’s situation.

1  ·  Read the pattern

Review where responses suggest relative strengths or areas worth exploring.

2  ·  Connect it to work

Examine recent decisions and interactions. Look for examples that support or challenge the interpretation.

3  ·  Choose a practice

Select a manageable behavior to work on, such as asking for contrary evidence, or checking that a colleague’s concern has been understood.

4  ·  Return to the question

Observe what changes in the team’s work and decide whether to continue, adjust, or examine another behavior.

What the profile can tell you

The questionnaire captures reported perceptions at a point in time. It helps structure reflection and conversation.

We interpret the results in the context of the team’s work and the other evidence available.

Agree the arrangements first

Before a group profile, we agree who will receive the results, how responses will be combined, and how the findings will be used.

Connect the profile to the wider inquiry

The Innovation Alignment and Reality Review gathers qualitative accounts of how innovation operates. The profiles add a structured view of reported behaviors.

The Six Keys provides practices a team can use in response. The appropriate combination depends on the question you want to resolve.

Tell us what you are seeing in the team’s work. We will discuss whether a profile would be useful.
